I’ve had a vertical lip piercing for about 3 months now. Today I noticed this HUGE bump right next to the top hole. It feels really hard. As soon as I saw it, I bit off a small bit and it bled a little. Do you guys have any idea what it might be? I have a feeling it might either be a canker sore or excess scar tissue :(

It does look like it might’ve been some ulceration (like a canker sore), but to be honest, it’s hard to tell at this point - it just looks like a bloody sore where you chomped it! Be nice to it and treat it like it’s new for awhile and it should settle down. Good luck!

  1. i have had my vertical lip piercing for over a year now. When mine was first healing i ended up with a sore just like that. I talked to the piercing artist and they said that i could be cleaning it to much. I started cleaning it twice every other day and it healed up just fine afterwards.
