…and to what exact purpose do women get their hoods split?

Hi Vampy,
I’m tempted to get a hood split but don’t really know whether it will be suitable or useful for me to get it done. On what basis and to what exact purpose do women get their hoods split? And are there any articles etc. you would suggest reading first? When I search IAM and the QOD it seems my queries are too vague and I don’t get any useful results.

The main two reasons women get their hoods split are either for aesthetic reasons, or to expose the clitoris more to allow for direct stimulation.

I’m unaware of any useful literature on the subject, everything i’ve learned about it has been from talking to women who have had the procedure done, and practitioners who have performed it. Generally everyone i’ve spoken to who has had it done are happy with the mod, and some want to take it further, or even remove some of the hood tissue. However I have heard about one girl who was very unhappy after getting her hood split, direct contact on her clit was very painful, even to the point that having it rubbing on her underwear as she walked hurt her.

If it is something you are seriously considering, I’d make sure you actually enjoy direct clitoral stimulation, as many women with long hoods that fully cover their clit are unused to this sensation and some even find it painful. While you can expect to lose a little sensitivity over time as your clit is no longer covered all the time, the sensation of having your clit touched is still going to be a lot more intense than having it touched through the hood. As with any permanent mod, unless its something that you REALLY want, it’s probably not for you.

…the placement completely ruin the chances of having both?

Sunday October 7th, 2007 @ 2:45 PM

I was wondering how a dolphin would work with a frenum, would they rub the skin between uncumfortably or does the placement completely ruin the chances of having both?

A dolphin can be done as a double deep pa and avoid the frenum (well at least the bit directly under the glans). If you wanted it in the more standard location it would be dependant on your anatomy and the placement of your frenum. Most likely a piercer capable of doing a dolphin should also be capable of working around your frenum.

Is this even possible?

is this even possible? or safe? what are the ramifications of stretching such an important structural part of your face?

Possible, yes. In fact it has been confirmed those pictures are genuine. Safe, that’s debatable. There is however no denying the impact this would have on your facial structure as well as daily task. Hopefully, this guy will be found and perhaps add some insight into this extreme piercing.

…fade rather easily, will it fade fast being in white ink?

I’m looking to get a lip tattoo right away, however i was thinking it’d be kindve neat to get it in white ink. im just wondering tho, since lip tattoos fade rather easily, will it fade fast being in white ink? will white ink even show up well? aaand, would requesting white ink increase the price? Thank you sooo much :)

Yes, using white ink is more likely to fade, and no, its unlikely to show up well…the ink sits above the pigment in the skin and is translucent, looking cream coloured on most people’s skin, and only appearing white on people with very very pale skin. Inside the mouth it’d be unlikely to stand out much at all, and certainly wouldnt appear white. The ink itself wouldn’t make the tattoo more expensive, but it may work out more expensive as it might require more sessions to get the ink to take to any reasonable degree. Basically, unless you want a very simple and subtle design, its probably not a great idea.

…if it’s at a higher gauge, like 8ga or even 0ga?

Does it make a difference if it’s at a higher gauge, like 8ga or even 0ga? I know needles in bigger sizes can be more expensive.

Ordering a single 4 ga. from Industrial Strength is 95 cents. A dermal punch wholesale is under 2 dollars. In any case, it’s cheap and the cost of these supplies is part of what you are paying for.

…piercing to get it at most reputable piercing places?

Saturday October 6th, 2007 @ 9:32 AM

I’d like to know the average gauge, if there are any anatomical reasons one might not be able to get a dolphin for,is it a known enough piercing to get it at most reputable piercing places? And if anything else you really think is worth stating I’d definitely take your advice.

A dolphin is a rare and fairly advanced genital piercing. Most piercers have no experience doing these. As far as gauge goes, that is dependent on the clients wants and anatomy. For most case I’d recommend an 8 ga though. If your trying to locate a piercer with experience in these good luck. You may be well advised to seek out someone who has a large gay client base, as the gay community generally embraces this piercing more than the straight.

I’m hoping you guys can help, I’m interested in…

I’m hoping you guys can help, I’m interested in getting an etching done on my back but I can’t seem to find someone willing to do it. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and I find it hard to believe no one does etchings here! Any help would be greatly appreacited!

By ‘etching’ can I assume you mean scarification?

In your area, Dave Gillstrap is the man. He can be found on the IAM site.

…to my piercer or consult a doctor to see what went wrong?

Friday October 5th, 2007 @ 10:11 AM

hello wonderful and awesomely awesome QOD staff i have a question. (I would offer cookies to anyone who answers my question, but, alas, i am a disaster in the kitchen and any cookies i make are questionable, to be polite) I got a triangle piercing six days ago, and immediately after it was done, i noticed that my clitorous was hidden under my hood. I kind of poked around and checked for it, but my piercer told my that poking my piercing would only make it bleed more and irritate the piercing.Almost a week later, the swelling has gone down a little, but my clit is still in hiding. Is this normal, or should i go back to my piercer or consult a doctor to see what went wrong?

It sounds like the clitoral stem may have been pulled up and held up by the piercing. That’s bad, but not “oh God I’ll never cum again bad”. I’d go back to the piercer have them look it over, it probably needs to be removed and even though ALL piercers make the occassional mistake in the case of something as serious as a triangle piercing, I don’t think I’d give them the second chance to repierce it.

…from there, or to go from an earing and stretch down?

I want to stretch my lobes to one inch, would it be better to get them punched/scalpeled at 0g and stretch from there, or to go from an earing and stretch down?

My advice pierce with a 4 gauge needle and immediately taper to 2 gauge. This method gives fairly good instant gratification, but doesn’t remove any tissue which you will want later for stretching purposes.

…use that will be as painful, without being as damaging?

Friday October 5th, 2007 @ 7:05 AM

I have been doing self torture on my urethra for many years using soaps, Q-tips and brushes. It is to the point that I can ONLY orgasm while experiencing urethral pain. Is there anything else that I can use that will be as painful, without being as damaging? I have numbness from scar tissue, so it takes a lot of time and effort to feel the pain that I need. I’ve considered sub-incision, but don’t want to cut nerves and have more numbness… I want to stimulate the nerves, not eliminate them.

A subinicison will enhance urethral stimulation not detract from it. However, after it the exposed urethral tissue does become used to the stimulation and therefore becomes less sensitive. It does open up the urethra though which makes getting to deeper parts and the bladder as well much easier.

For a non scarring urethral pain inducer try adding in some icy hot or vaporub to your chosen implements.
