I have a 0 gauge apadravya in which I am currently wearing a 1″ stainless steel barbell. I have been wanting to try something a little lighter and thought of PTFE but have only been able to find small gauges. Do you know of anywhere to order something similar in PTFE or someone that will custom make such a piece?

We don’t as a rule link away from BME (for obvious reasons), but since BMEshop doesn’t carry any PTFE at all, I feel like it’s probably justified in this instance. I have a LOT of respect for the folks behind Aesthetics Bodymod - all of the jewellery they carry is fantastically high-quality and obtained from ethical, reputable manufacturers, and they manufacture PTFE and Delrin in-house and can make it to suit whatever you like. Their contact details are on their website. :)

  1. To add a small note to Lori’s response, I’d like to mention a personal experience of my own with my apadravya.

Once I reached 2g, I was beginning to notice the sheer weight of my steel barbell. It became somewhat uncomfortable by this point during and even when I wasn’t having sex. Not to mention that the beads made the barbell much longer than it needed to be.

I had a custom barbell made by a friend that completely solved the problem. I’ll describe the jewelry design that we whipped up:

A 2g 316lvm hollow steel tube at the perfect length to accommodate an erection, with smartie-shaped, smooth disks. One disk was machined onto a 10g internally threaded post, which I slide through the tube and screw the other smartie onto to lock them in place. Now I have a 2g straight barbell that’s hollow, minimizing weight. The smartie beads make the jewelry much more comfortable for my partner during sex, too!

Now you just need a good jewelry machinist to whip one up for you. I hope this helps.

  2. Thanks Lori for suggesting Aesthetics Bodymod! After I emailed them about a custom order, they quickly responded with a couple of suggestions and we are working on getting a custom piece made currently. I will let you know how it works out, but so far they have provided great customer service!

  3. I wanted to follow up on this situation…

I think it took about 3 weeks (maybe 4) but the package from Aesthetics finally arrived. I wasn’t too upset about it taking that long - it was a custom order after all. Once I took the jewelry out of the package I could see that it was very good craftsmanship. I had ordered a 0 gauge 1″ PTFE barbell. The finish was extremely smooth and the size was perfect - slid right in with no problems. The only complaint (slight) is that the balls are not exactly the same size, but knowing how they had to make it, it doesn’t surprise me and is really only noticeable because I am picky like that. Overall, a great experience and I would recommend Aesthetics Bodymod to anyone!
