  6. Oh, Tyler, seriously. “Slowly” is the only correct answer to this question. Don’t be so precious, Derek’s a perfect gentleman!

  7. If someone is seriously going to get put-out by my answer to this question, let me give you a little insight as to why I answered it this way:

    1) “Slowly” is absolutely the only “right” answer, regardless of which of the various methods someone chooses to use.

    2) If the person already has 1″ earlobes, it seems pretty likely they already know a bit about stretching. Maybe they managed to get their lobes to 1″ by pure luck and/or magic and or The Force, but it seems unlikely.

    3) I haven’t tried it, but I’m guessing that little box at the top right of the page, labeled “Search”, might produce the information the person is looking for. Freeing me up to answer other questions that haven’t been asked. Over. And over. And over.

    4) I thought relatively speaking, my answer contained about as much information as the original question. Without knowing more about the person’s lobes, I really couldn’t be more specific than I was.

    5)C’mon…it was kind of funny.

    6)See #1

also, i always found it better to use electric tape to stretch instead of using tapers..

do they even sell tapers for 1″?

Julie on February 18th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
  10. There are tapers available for sizes up to 1″, and even above. I definitely don’t think those are the best option at that size.

Also, if using tape, it is really much better to use plumber’s/teflon tape, instead of electrical tape. The adhesive on electrical tape can cause a many people to have an allergic reaction, not to mention the potential for mechanical irritation just from the stickiness of it.

  11. i heard bondage tape was better than ptfe for stretching. it supposedly doesn’t dry your holes out like ptfe can. anybody know anything about it?

ashley doom on June 17th, 2009 at 7:54 am
  12. oh! and about taping…. what size should you start taping at to be safe? ive heard anywhere from 6g to 0g. i guess maybe it depends on the elasticity of yer ears… ?

ashley doom on June 17th, 2009 at 7:55 am
  13. I’ve never used bondage tape for my lobes, but my brother did. I’ve always stuck with PTFE, seems to work just fine for me. Whenever I want to go up a a size, I just wrap gradually every night. Actually, I went from 3/4 to 1 1/2 with PTFE, so I started taping then. As for drying out your lobes, it’s never really been a problem with me.

  14. iv stretched my ears with bondage tape from like a 2 up to what im at now(and inch and a quarter) its quite comfortable, and better for your ears then ptfe tape.

  15. you could most likely just pop that shit in. wiggle the piercing around a little then push the bigger jewlery in. if there is any pain then get a taper or wait for the piercing to loosen.

  16. ive been streching my ears for over a year, and i have found that PTFE has worked better for me then using bondage tape..mainly the price, you can get a roll of PTFE at home depot/lowes for 50 cents. and bondage tape is well over $3 a roll. do the math, lol.

but i wrap 2-4 layers of PTFE tape around my plugs every other day, it works suprisingly well!

  17. I work in a body jewelry store, and almost half of the customers we get come in complaining because they decide its a good idea to skip like four sizes and wonder why their ear is hanging off their head.

  18. electrical tape “works” but not can crease in some spots and cut your lobes pretty bad..thined one my corners b/c of that

  20. hiya, ive been having problems with stretching my ears over the past few months, i had been having problems before with getting them any furthur than 14mm so i ended up taking them out for a bit to give them a break and help the lobes revitalize themselves,
(a while back before this i also scalpeled my right lobe up b about 2-3mm)
since then they’ve shrunk right down to about 4mm, in these few months ive been massaging vitamin e oil and jobejoba oil to help get rid of the scar tissue but now also every time i try to strech, what looks like plasma starts to ooze from my ears after about a week, they get swolle and sore, for no reason, i streached correctly i didnt rush but it still does it, ive used all sorts of different materiels, titanium, plastic, silicone, organic materiels like bone, and all of them produce the same results, puffy swollen oozing ears
(this pisses me off more because im a piercer and i cant figure out whats going on with my own streaches. not cool)

any help regarding this would be much appreciated, i really want to stretch them back up to what they were but im kinda stuck

    kind regards

  21. My ears are at 1 1/2″. I highly suggest buying Holy Butter. Good for your ears and makes it slightly easier to upsize. My ears didn’t blow out until 1 1/4″, but that’s because I upsized at the speed of light. The only way to do it is going slow or buy ear weights. I hope all of you the best of luck with your stretching.

  22. I’ve recently stretched my ears from a 0g to 00g. My right ear has always been far stretchier than my left, so when stretching my left this time around it was no surprise there was more resistance than for my right. I waited about 2 months in between stretches, like always, but for this stretch, I decided to get it professionaly done. The right plug went in like butter! The left was painful, but my piercer said it would be fine. When the 00g taper didn’t work, she went in with a 7/16 taper and used it halfway to stretch just a tad more. My ear swelled up instantly. Its been two days, and my ear is still a balloon! I called them up to ask if this was normal, and they said it was and would last for upto two weeks, and suggested I do sea salt soaks for my torn lobes. (Blood crusties have formed, and it is very sore to the touch). I decided to listen to my body instead of them, as they clearly have no idea what they are talking about. I have been cleaning my poor lobe regularly, and have been doing sea salt soaks. My lobe is sore to the touch, and my lymph nodes in my neck and slightly swollen. Any suggestions on what to do to help? I want to get to 1/2 inch eventually, but have heard that torn lobes won’t heal or accommodate further stretching? I’m so choked, and worries about the health of my ears! Help!

Ps, sorry for the novel of a story!

  23. I stretched to 1/2 in” in three months and never damaged a thing….use the tapers and antibiotic ointment and don’t force it. it took me 2 nights of gently pushing them through. don’t use piercers when you can do it yourself.

  25. Hi there! This post couldn’t be written any better! Looking through this article reminds me of my previous roommate! He always kept talking about this. I most certainly will send this information to him. Fairly certain he’ll have a great read.

    Thank you for sharing!
