Hi guys ! I have had my cheeks pierced for about 2 months now, and have had a “keloid” according to my piercer for about a month now. I’ve been doing the whole aspirin thing overnight EVERY night and no change. It’s not itchy or painful, it’s pretty much flesh color. Ive never had anything like this before on my ten other body piercings. Im very scared and need advice/suggestions/insight.. PLEASE !!!! I would hate to remove the piercing or have surgery to remove the keloid ( if thats what it is).

Without seeing it’s it’s hard to determine exactly what the problem may be.
Cheek piercings are highly prone to abscessing and what probably isn’t a keloid in that area, could very well be an abscess. I’d get a doctor to check it out to see if it needs draining. (Not something to do on your own)

This is terribly common with cheek piercings, unfortunately.

  1. Thank you for the honest opinion. I saw a different piercer today and she said to go get it checked at a hospital after 2 days if hot compressing doesnt work, so I plan on going Monday. So far ( 2 hot compresses later ) it has already gone down, so hopefully I’m on the right road. I just want to let people know to LOOK UP RISKS before they get their face pierced, something I did not properly do. As freakin cute as dimple piercings are, if the area is that problematic I would suggest considering how much you falue your face before putting bars through it, I wish I had.

  2. I am really glad somebody has posted this. I have had my cheeks pierced for 13 months now and I still keep getting keloids on my left side!I have always had complications on my left side though. I have honestly never tried anything to get rid of them, expect for emu oil. Most of mine pop on there own but I was wondering will they ever eventually go away?

  3. Cheeks can be scary and unpredictable healing wise. That “LUMP” could possibly be a build up of lymph gland fluid,.. secretion that my have been unable to drain and just hardened or could be muscle damage. I have had Great Success having pierces do sea salt soaks along with using a warmed chamomile tea bag used to create a warm compression. The herbs in the tea will draw out any bacteria/ build up, and the salt will dry it. It is a 2 wk process before you see/ get results. If you haven’t tried that already give it a shot!!. It’ may help you, If you decide to follow up with it, make sure to alternate between the two evey other day
