I have a friend who just bought new tattoo gear and said he would sell me his old stuff for pretty cheap. Is it safe to buy a used tattoo machine?

Is it safe in the hands of someone who isn’t a tattoo artist? Probably not.

  1. If the gear is professional I’d say yes. I became a tattooist almost the same way. And there is no problem if the machine is used, there are a lot of ways to clean it, which you have to do before and after every tattoo.

  2. it would be fine, it is the needles that would transfer any diseases. the machine won’t transfer any diseases. just make sure to buy your own needles. and after you use them once, throw them away!! it is way better to spend $0.95 on a needle than give someone aids for the rest of their life.
